U,S, History A- This is a sophomore course in United States History and will be taught in accordance with the Michigan Core Curriculum’s standards and benchmarks. The course is designed to provide students with the skills necessary to develop knowledge of the major events of United States history from the late 1870’s to 1941.

U.S. History B-
Prerequisite: U.S. History A. This is a sophomore course in United States History and will be taught in accordance with the Michigan Core Curriculum’s standards and benchmarks. The course is designed to provide students with the skills necessary to develop knowledge of the major events of United States history from the late 1941 to 1990's.

Sociology-
In this introductory sociology class students will study a variety of topics including cultural diversity, roles and relationships, groups, the family, social problems, and discrimination. Students will also be involved in sociology experiments, which will include riding the Muskegon Area Transit System, the use of symbols. Students will also be required to perform ten (10) hours of community serve to pass the class.

Psychology-
Psychology is an introductory course. By its nature this course covers the broad outlook of human behavior with specific concern with one persons relationship to the world.

Economics-
Prerequisite: 11th grad. Knowledge of economics enables us to understand and consider potential implications of the basic scarcity problem faced by all individuals and societies: unlimited wants in pursuit of limited resources. This problem requires economic decisions on matters ranging from personal finance to international trade. In this class, students analyze the challenges individuals, households, businesses, and governments face due to scarcity, and the intended and unintended consequences of their choices.

World History A (Ancient)- World History is a comprehensive historical study designed to provide students with a vital understanding of the past to help them understand their own times. Emphasis will be on place, time, and significance in the continuity of history.

World History is a comprehensive historical study designed to provide students with a vital understanding of the past to help them understand their own times. Emphasis will be on place, time, and significance in the continuity of history.

World History A/B  (Honors) - Prerequisite: Recommendation of Social Studies 8 teacher and completion of application process. The Honors World History course is a comprehensive historical study to provide students with an understanding of the past. Special emphasis is placed on students expanding their skills in reading, writing and thinking like a historian. Student will use primary and secondary documents along with various methods of technology to practice these skills.

Government- This class will examine the American political system in reference to other types of political systems found around the world. Also included will be more concentrated look at the political spectrum, the foundations on which the American political system was created, the division of power at all levels and public policy issues and decision making processes found within the government.

Current Issues A - Using a variety of news sources, this one-trimester class will focus on current national and international issues and how these affect the United States and individuals. Students will study human rights and human rights violations around the world, the international organizations that address human rights violations, and the movement of people including immigration and refugees. Students will also study U.S. policy options related to the Middle East, terrorism, and Latin America.

Current Issues B - Using a variety of news sources, this one-trimester class will focus on current national and international issues and how these issues affect the United States and individuals. Students will study global environmental problems, current challenges faced by nations in Africa, and genocide. Students will also study U.S. policy options related to the use of foreign aid, the spread of nuclear weapons, Russia, and China.
