The Muskegon County College Night is sponsored by Shoreline Counseling Association and coordinated by FHS counselor, Pam Riley.  This free event is open to the public and is an excellent opportunity for high school students and their parents.  Over 50 colleges will be in attendance.  Students can meet with college representatives, and learn about the financial aid process.

KnowHOw2GO Road Show!

The Muskegon Opportunity KnowHow2GO Road Show is coming to Fruitport!  The show is a 45 minute, interactive talk show that includes music, prizes and a Q & A session.  Host Jesse L. Vance Jr. and guests from local colleges will inform juniors on post-secondary access, programming, funding, and much more.  Parents are welcome.

 

Financial Aid Workshop

Please join us for an evening with Bruce Wierda, Director of Financial Aid at Muskegon Community College.  Mr. Wierda will walk you through the ins and outs of financing education beyond high school.  You'll learn about the different types of aid, including grants, loans and scholarships, the programs specific to Michigan, and other helpful resources.  Mr. Wierda will review how to complete the FAFSA (Free Application For Federal Student Aid) and will also answer your questions about the financial Aid process.  This workshop is for parents of current seniors.

Are you wondering what steps your Junior student should be taking to prepare for their senior year and beyond?  Fruitport High School Counselors present their annual Junior Parent's Night to answer the question, "Whats left to do in high school?"  Topics covered will include the Michigan Merit Exam and the ACT, the FHS contract for graduation/Junior appointment, college selection and the college admissions process, the military, financial aid and scholarships, and much more!  Please join us for an informative evening that will include a presentation and questions and answers.  You will also have the opportunity to schedule an individual appointment for you and your student to meet with their counselor to discuss senior year and future planning.
