Art Club
Art Club is an after school enrichment activity that focuses on a variety of experiences for the seriously creative art student. Art Club is open to all students. Art Club has a relaxed fun environment where students can come and create wonderful works of art and crafts. Art Club is run by Art Specialist Mrs. Jacobson and help from parent volunteers. Art Club is limited to 40 students and meets on Wednesdays after school till 3:30. Students must have a permission slip and there is a $10.00 membership fee. Art Club is full for the 2011 – 2012 school year. SPELLMASTERS
Main Purpose: Teach students strategies to develop good spelling skills and increase student vocabulary; in addition, Spell Masters is the first step towards competing in the Scripps National Spelling Bee for those who have that goal. Meetings: Mondays (twice a month) at 4:00 - 6:00 in the FMS Media Center Cost: None Limitations: 4th - 8th grade Ski/Snowboard Club

Fitness Club meets Nov 3-Feb 25, Mondays and Thursdays 2:50-4:15 pm.The club is geared for fun and fitness (physical activity). We run or walk on the track for 30 minutes and then proceed to the pool for laps and play time. Parent permission slip is required. When the weather gets too cold we just go swimming. Kids need suit, hair tie for girls, towel and plastic bag. Kids can wear a tee shirt over their suit if they choose. Fitness Club is full at this time. Hoop Group

FMS Scrapbook Club meets every Wednesday from 2:45-4:15 in the media center. It is open to any FMS student. Students are encouraged to bring their own pictures and albums. They can bring their own supplies or use ours. Permission slips can be found at the student services center or from Mrs. Kolbe in the front office. Girls on the Run
Girls on the Run is an after school self awareness club that involves physical activity and small group discussions related to adolescent issues such as image, reputation, healthy eating, stress, mean and aggressive behavior, and confidence. Girls on the Run starts in March and runs for 10 weeks meeting twice a week - Monday and Thursday from 2:50-4:15. Cost is $60 and includes New Balance running shoes, a T-shirt, and all the activities. Scholarships are available and/or fundraising opportunities. Registration will begin in January. Student Council
Two students are elected by their peers to represent each academic team. The council meets twice per month to promote school spirit and a positive school community, and to help lead the student body in service-learning projects within the broader community. Past projects have included activities such as dances, field days, spirit weeks, Toys for Tots collections and Pennies for Patients fund raisers. Intramural Sports Various sports sessions are held throughout the school year for all interested 6th grade students. There is no cost and students simply need to return a permission slip signed by a parent for each session. Activities currently include flag football (September-October, Wednesdays after school until 4:00); basketball (November-December, Mondays from 7:00-8:30 p.m.) and volleyball (February-March, Mondays from 7:00-8:30 p.m.). Flyers with permission slips and more information are available during each session in the Student Information Center by the Middle School office.
