Fruitport Community Schools are ready and able to meet the technological needs of our students.
We maintain a network backbone which allows up to 1GB speeds to the desktop. In addition, we have a strong wireless network in place which is capable of handling the many wireless devices throughout the district. We are continually monitoring the network to be sure it is meeting the needs of our students and staff and upgrade when necessary.
We are also a member of the Shoreline Fiber Network. This is a joint project of the Muskegon Area Intermediate School District and other local entities. This 130 mile fiber network connects 82 sites, including local school districts, and provides our Internet connectivity through the MERIT Network.
We are very appreciative that our voters recently passed a county-wide Technology and Security Enhancement millage, which will provide funding for district security and technology enhancements for the next ten years. Because of this funding, we are embarking on a three-year Technology Deployment plan that will provide all students in grades 3-12 with a Chromebook. For more information regarding the Technology Deployment plan, see the spotlight below, or visit the Technology & Security Millage page.
