Early Childhood Center
Early Childhood Programs at Fruitport Community Schools offer families of young children many opportunities for care, growth, and learning. Our programs ensure a safe and secure environment that promote each child’s individual development.
We are proud to offer child care for children ages six weeks to five years old, before/after school care for elementary children, and Summer Fun Camp for children who have attended elementary school . In addition, three and four-year-olds have the opportunity to attend Child’s World Tuition Preschool, Head Start, or Great Start Readiness preschool programs.

Child's World Preschool
What is it:
Tuition Based Preschool Program
Qualifications:
Any child aged 3 or 4 by September 1, 2022
Cost:
3-day classes - $260 per quarter
2-day classes - $215 per quarter
$30 Registration Fee

Early Childhood Center Child Care
What is it:
Childcare for young children offering well-planned environments that support children's health and safety while fostering learning through play. The staff is comprised of caring and nurturing people whose goal is your child's well-being and happiness.

2021-2022 ECC Schedule Form
Location:
Early Childhood Center inside the Fruitport Middle School.
Session Times:
Monday through Friday from 6:30 am to 6:00 pm. Care is also available on snow days, school breaks, and during the summer.

Great Start Readiness Program
What is it:
Great Start Readiness is a free preschool program sponsored with funds from the Michigan Department of Education.
Qualifications:
Families must meet income eligibility requirements. Click HERE to determine eligibility. Keep in mind that eligibility does not ensure placement into program. Priority is given to families who reside in the Fruitport Community Schools or Mona Shores Public School Districts. Children must be 4 years old by December 1 of the current school year with priority given to children with birthdays on or before September 1.
Cost: Free
Location:
Shettler Elementary in the Fruitport Community Schools District.
Ross Park Elementary in the Mona Shores School District.
Session Times:
Full day sessions (8:15 - 3:15) Monday through Thursday each week.
Transportation:
Transportation is not provided.
GSRP APPLICATIONS
If your child is income eligible for the Great Start Readiness Program based on the link above, choose one of the options below to BEGIN the application process.
Option 1 (Email): Click on link below to obtain forms. Complete application online, save, and email to dtuinstra@muskegonisd.org. Health Appraisal form is print only. This form must be completed by child's physician.
Option 2 (Print and Drop Off): Click on link below to print application forms. Drop off completed application at the Fruitport Early Childhood Center office on Mondays and Wednesdays between 9am and noon or Tuesdays and Thursdays between 1pm and 3pm. (Closed week of April 4 for Spring Break)
Option 3 (Pick Up): Visit the Fruitport Early Childhood Center office on Mondays and Wednesdays between 9am and noon or Tuesdays and Thursdays between 1pm and 3pm. (Closed week of April 4 for Spring Break)
The following documents are needed to COMPLETE your child's application. Please bring them to our office and we will make copies for you.
- Child's Birth Certificate (Record of Birth or Affidavit of Parentage)
- Proof of 2021 Household Income (1040 or w2s preferred) If anyone received ANY unemployment benefits in 2021, an end-of-the-year statement must be turned in, as well as W2(s) or 1040.
- Child's Medical Insurance Card
- Proof of residency (current utility bill if living in Fruitport/Mona Shores districts only)
- Up-to-date immunization record

Head Start
What is It:
Head Start is a free preschool program sponsored by funds from the Federal Department of Health & Human Services. The goal of Head Start is to increase school readiness of young children in low-income families.

Summer Fun Camp
What is it:
Summer childcare program offering two weekly field trips, weekly STEM & literacy activities, and arts & crafts. All supervised by experienced and caring staff. We help bridge the summer recess learning gap. FIELD TRIPS AND ACTIVITIES WILL DEPEND ON THE REGULATIONS REGARDING COVID 19.
