Early Childhood Center

Early Childhood Programs at Fruitport Community Schools offer families of young children many opportunities for care, growth, and learning.  Our programs ensure a safe and secure environment that promote each child’s individual development.

We are proud to offer child care for children ages six weeks to five years old,  before/after school care for elementary children, and Summer Fun Camp for children who have attended elementary school .  In addition, three and four-year-olds have the opportunity to attend Child’s World Tuition Preschool, Head Start, or Great Start Readiness preschool programs.

What is it:
Tuition Based Preschool Program

Qualifications:
Any child aged 3 or 4 by September 1, 2020

Cost:
3-day classes - $243 per quarter                     
2-day classes - $202 per quarter
$25 Registration Fee

4 Year Olds       M & F      9:15-11:45 and Wed. 10:15-12:45
3 Year Olds       T  & Th    9:15-11:45

What is it:
Childcare for young children offering well-planned environments that support children's health and safety while fostering learning through play. The staff is comprised of caring and nurturing people whose goal is your child's well-being and happiness.

Qualifications:
Ages 6 weeks through 5 years old
Preschool-aged children must be potty trained.

2020-2021 ECC Schedule Form

Location:
Early Childhood Center inside the Fruitport Middle School.

Session Times:
Monday through Friday from 6:30 am to 6:00 pm. Care is also available on snow days, school breaks, and during the summer.

Transportation:
Transportation is not provided.

What is it:
Great Start Readiness is a free preschool program sponsored with funds from the Michigan Department of Education.

Qualifications:
Must be able to meet state qualifying factors.
Must be age 4 by December 1 of the current school year. (Priority is given to children with birthdays on or before September 1.)

Priority is given to families residing in Fruitport Community Schools or Mona Shores Public School Districts.

Cost: Free

Location:
The Early Childhood Center in the west end of the middle school in the FCS District.

2020-2021 School Year - Shettler Elementary in the FCS District.
Ross Park Elementary in the MS District.

Session Times:
Half day classes are in session Monday through Thursday each week.

Transportation:
Transportation is not provided.

ATTENTION! Fruitport/Mona Shores applications will now be accepted at the Fruitport Early Childhood Center (3113 E. Pontaluna) by appointment only.  Please email Deanna at dtenbrock@muskegonisd.org to schedule an appointment. 

Please plan on approximately 20 minutes for staff to review your paperwork when we open. Applications forms are also available through the links provided below.

Please bring the following items with you:

  • Child's Birth Certificate 

  • Child's Insurance Card

  • Proof of Household 2019 Income (2019 1040 tax form or W-2s preferred, SSI, TANF (FIP), and/or child support documentation)

  • Proof of Residency (current utility bill including name and address)

  • Child's Up-to-date Immunization Record

What is It:
Head Start is a free preschool program sponsored by funds from the Federal Department of Health & Human Services. The goal of Head Start is to increase school readiness of young children in low-income families.

Qualifications:
Priority is given to families who reside in the Fruitport Community Schools or Mona Shores Public School Districts. Children must be 3 or 4 years old by December 1 of the current school year with priority given to children with birthdays on or before September 1.
Families must also meet income eligibility requirements.

Cost:
Free

Location:
Shettler Elementary in the FCS District.
Ross Park Elementary in the MS District.

Session Times:
Full day classes - 4 or 5 days per week depending on the month

Meals:
Nutritious meals are provided.

Transportation:
Transportation is not provided.

What is it:
Summer childcare program offering two weekly field trips, weekly STEM & literacy activities, and arts & crafts. All supervised by experienced and caring staff.  We help bridge the summer recess learning gap. FIELD TRIPS AND ACTIVITIES WILL DEPEND ON THE REGULATIONS REGARDING COVID 19. 

Qualifications:
Elementary children currently attending kindergarten through 5th Grade.
