From the Principal
On behalf of our students and faculty, I would like to welcome you to our school family. It is our mission to ensure that all children learn at high academic levels. Our vision is to create a community where students and staff work collaboratively to create a respectful environment in which all students meet or exceed levels of proficiency.
Beach Elementary School students and staff create a positive learning environment. Our student leadership team, the BLTs, work with the entire student body to teach and reinforce respect, responsibility, safety and an excellent attitude. Our “Green Team” is active at all grade levels striving to learn, and as a result, teach ways in which our community can have a positive impact on our environment. They have improved a Beach Backyard Trail that is open to the community for walking and learning about trees and habitats. The Green Team has worked with area businesses to build bird and bat houses and an outdoor classroom, complete with benches. The Green Team has secured several grants allowing them to begin establishing a community garden in the spring of 2015. Another active student team at Beach is our LINKs program, which links students with autism with mentor students that also benefit greatly from forming relationships that aim to model, teach and reinforce positive social interactions.
Our relentless academic focus has been the foundation for professional learning and collaboration. Our staff works together during “delayed starts” and common planning to agree upon curriculum and assessment and analyze data. We offer all of our student's interventions based upon what they already know, or what they need to learn at a common time called WIN (What I Need now). This intervention time ensures that no child will be left behind!
“It takes a village to raise a child.” Our PTO is open to all parents and guardians. The mission of the PTO is to enhance the educational experience for students by supporting academic and enrichment activities through parent involvement and open communication. The group will provide district and building communication and promote school ownership and pride. We urge all families to become involved in the PTO for our children.
We are humbled to work with you in an effort to ensure all students will leave Beach as strong, competent and capable leaders of our wonderful Fruitport community.
