I started my education in Fruitport in 2006 working as a teacher for Fruitport Adult Education. When I state "education", that means our students are teaching me as well. As non-traditional students, they all teach me in numerous ways every day while in the classroom. We, in Adult Education, truly meet amazing people and help them achieve their goals in many different ways.

I started my Fruitport Community School journey in September of 2013. I started out as a custodian at Edgewood Elementary, in December 2015 I became the Central Receiving Coordinator and now I am currently working in Adult Education as the Program Assistant. It's truly been such an amazing journey and I look forward to many more years to come as an employee and FCS parent.

The study of history should lead us, as people, to greater heights. What we know should always bring the desire to make the future brighter. For this reason, I became a teacher. We know not every student follows the same traditional educational path, but it has become my passion to help forge new pathways for those learners who may need a more non-traditional approach to education.

I have had the pleasure of working at Fruitport Community Schools for the past 20+ years. I started as a noon supervisor sub. In 1998, I worked as a noon supervisor at Beach Elementary School on a regular basis. In 2005, I started working in Adult Education as an Administrative Assistant part-time and continued as a noon supervisor at Beach Elementary School. In 2009, I also become the Chief GED Examiner for the Adult Education program and left Beach Elementary. I have also worked in Central Office as an Administrative Assistant. I currently just work in Adult Education.

My educational career has taken me many places and has allowed me to teach in many different districts and with many different types of students. Through all of this, I’ve realized that my passion is working with the non-traditional and struggling students to help them achieve success and overcome the educational and situational obstacles they face. Every student is different and I truly enjoy getting to know them as individuals and helping them better their lives.

I love history! The Civil War is my favorite time period, but any history is interesting and fun to learn more about. As a social studies teacher, I enjoy helping my students walk through history, and make history by completing their degree.
