Fruitport Community Schools – PowerSchool Google Sign-In Privacy Policy

Fruitport Community Schools uses Google Sign-In to provide secure authentication for authorized users accessing the district's PowerSchool student information system.

This application is intended solely to authenticate district staff and students using their district-managed Google Workspace accounts.

Information We Access

When a user signs in using Google, this application may access the following information through Google's OpenID Connect authentication services:

  • Email Address: Used to identify the user's district Google account and associate it with the appropriate PowerSchool account.

  • Name and Basic Profile Information: Used for account identification and authentication purposes.

  • Authentication Information: Used to verify the user's identity and confirm that the account has been authenticated by Google.

How We Use Information

Information obtained through Google Sign-In is used exclusively to:

  • Authenticate users accessing PowerSchool.

  • Verify the identity of district staff and students.

  • Associate a user's Google account with their existing PowerSchool account.

  • Provide secure single sign-on access to authorized PowerSchool services.

Fruitport Community Schools does not use Google account information for advertising, marketing, or unrelated purposes.

Information Sharing

Information obtained through Google authentication is provided to PowerSchool as necessary to facilitate the single sign-on process.

Fruitport Community Schools does not sell, rent, or distribute Google account information to third parties for advertising or marketing purposes.

Data Storage and Security

Google authentication information is transmitted securely using industry-standard encryption.

Authentication information may be processed or retained by PowerSchool as necessary to provide authentication services and maintain the security and operation of the PowerSchool platform.

Fruitport Community Schools takes reasonable administrative and technical measures to protect student and staff information in accordance with applicable privacy and data protection requirements.

Third-Party Services

This application uses Google authentication services and the PowerSchool student information system. Use of these services is also subject to their respective privacy policies and terms of service.
