Creating an open and safe environment so that your child may flourish in school is my utmost priority! I am a strong believer that before learning takes place a child must feel valued, safe, and confident in the classroom. The most rewarding part of my job is building relationships with my students and helping them grow not just academically, but socially-emotionally as well.

My life has been so blessed to be part of Fruitport Community Schools for over 10 years.  I was lucky enough to have attended Beach School from kindergarten through 5th grade, until my parents moved to Whitehall.  I remember crying when we left and told my parents that I would be back no matter what. I never thought it would be to teach in the district that I loved!

HI!!  My name is Mrs. Jamie Cihak.  The thing I love most about teaching kindergarten is getting to be one of the first teachers a student gets.  I get to watch them grow up and make lasting relationships with students and families alike.  

The things I love most about teaching in Fruitport are the amazing kids, the support we receive from our families and the sense of community that you can feel the minute you walk through the doors of any one of our schools.

I'm the school social worker at Edgewood Elementary. Before working in the schools, I worked in child welfare. I have been working with children for almost 8 years, which is truly my passion. School social workers focus on removing the social, emotional, and environmental barriers that prevent a child from learning.

I have always enjoyed learning and working with children, so becoming an elementary teacher was a perfect fit for me.  I graduated from Western Michigan University with a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education.  As a former Edgewood student and Fruitport graduate, I was thrilled to be hired as a third grade teacher at Edgewood in 2002.

I am excited to return to Fruitport as the Assistant Principal!  I am a proud Fruitport graduate and love this community.

Teaching at Fruitport has been the most incredible and rewarding experience. I strive to develop meaningful relationships with students and their families in order to create a safe and productive learning environment. As the Dalai Lama said, "When educating the minds of our youth, we must not forget to educate their hearts.

I'm so thrilled to serve as your Principal at Edgewood. I will work to continuously improve learning for all students by focusing our efforts on relationships, safety, and attendance. My purpose as a leader aligns with the known author Simon Sinek, who said "Leadership is not about being in charge. Leadership is about taking care of those in your charge." 

My family and I are so excited to join the Fruitport family! I am a firm believer that students don't care what you know until they know you care. I am passionate about helping students build confidence and skills that help them become successful people later on in their life! 

I love teaching and creating meaningful relationships with my students. I believe students learn best when they are encouraged to ask questions, grow from their mistakes, and make connections to what they are learning. It is important that every student feels a sense of belonging and knows they are valued in my classroom. As Rita Pierson said, “Every child deserves a champion. Someone who will never give up on them.” 

Every child is gifted. They just unwrap their packages at different times." I strive to give my students opportunities to learn and grow each day! I hope they leave my room knowing they are cared for, and that learning is FUN!

I love teaching because it allows me to encourage the next generation of learners to be the best they can be, both in and out of the classroom.  As Malala Yousafzai said, "One child, one teacher, and one book can change the world."

Education comes in many forms, and it started with me in scouting.  I've been through all the ranks and eventually became Scoutmaster: passing on my passion for learning.  Then I became a certified ski instructor for over 15 years, and later as Voyageur Outward Bound instructor to combine skills.  Its seems like using adventure- based activities was the vehicle for learning over many years!

I love working with kids because they truly are the future! I love that I can to shape and mold young minds into intelligent scholars. 

I am so honored to be part of the Fruitport community as a STEM teacher.  I am excited to see so many Trojan faces each day in my classroom as we explore and discover together.  "The best way to predict the future is to invent it." 

I feel so blessed to be back in Fruitport, teaching our littlest learners!! Fruitport is home and I am excited to be giving back to this community. I cannot wait to meet each of my students and watch them grow this year! 

I am very excited to learn more about my students as learners and as individuals and create a space where they feel comfortable to learn and be themselves. I graduated from Fruitport in 2019 and went to Grand Valley to get my teaching degree specializing in grades PK-3. It is the experience and teachers I had at Fruitport that made me want to be a teacher, and I hope that I can carry on their legacy. When I am not working, I like to read and spend time with my fiancé, Derek, my friends, and family.

Working with children has always been a passion of mine. Teaching is one of the most rewarding and challenging careers in existence. Within a teaching career, we get to teach all other future careers, we teach future doctors, police officers and lawyers. I believe that every student is capable of learning, it only takes one teacher taking the time to find how they learn best! 

The energy, excitement, and open honesty that kids have certainly makes teaching an adventure!  The learning and growth that kids experience throughout a school year also make teaching an adventure.  Teaching is an amazing adventure that I have been on for over fifteen years.  

“Education is not the learning of facts, but the training of the mind to think.” I love teaching because I get to see students work their way through challenges and problem solve.

"Teachers who love teaching, teach children who love learning!" I am so excited to share my love of teaching with my second-grade students this year! My hope each year is to create a safe and welcoming environment for all students who walk through my door. I want to create a passion for learning and encourage them to never stop asking questions. I want them to become lifelong learners. 

Everyone can learn. All students deserve individual attention. There is more than one way to solve a problem.  These are the guiding philosophies that I teach by.

I love working with kids! I feel so fortunate to be able to teach skills that will help kids be successful in life, to provide a safe place for them to process their emotions, and to help in guiding them toward more positive behaviors. 

Coming from a family of educators, teaching has always been a fulfilling and productive career that I have wanted to do. Every student has a right to feel safe in school, with equal opportunities to get hands-on and learn new things without feeling intimidated.

I came to Fruitport Community Schools as a middle school math and science teacher, and enjoyed this experience. However, I love my position as a first grade teacher. It is exciting for me to see and help children discover the love of learning.

If you come into my classroom, you might see me singing and/or dancing to some music. I think that it is important for students to learn through movement and music, so I try to incorporate it into my lessons each day. I might be the world’s worst dancer and my voice is always out of tune, but I don’t mind!  

I’ve grown up in the Fruitport Community and I have worked for Fruitport Schools for over 25 years.  My husband Jim and I both graduated from Fruitport.  My two children also graduated from Fruitport.  I have four grandchildren, two of which attended Edgewood Elementary.  After graduation, I received my Associate’s degree in Business, and I currently work in the office at Edgewood Elementary.  

I am a graduate of Fruitport Community Schools and former Edgewood student. I was inspired from former elementary teachers to become an educator myself.  The most rewarding part of my day is when I can see the light of recognition when a student achieves goals in the area of reading.      

I am Megan Schneidt and this is my first official year of teaching! I am thrilled to get to know each and everyone of my third graders and their families. My hope is to have my students leave each day with the excitement of walking through our classroom door the next morning! 

I am a former Edgewood fifth grade teacher who has returned as the Librarian to help cultivate a love of reading.  I firmly believe that there is a book for everyone and the best part of my day is helping students find that book!!

“To teach is to touch a life forever.” I am confident that being a teacher is the best job in the world and I am so lucky to be teaching some of the littlest learners of Fruitport. My hope each year is to create a community within my classroom that is safe, loving, creative, and full of movement and fun. I want every single one of my students to feel success and to know that they are amazing and loved every single day.

My hope each year is to create excitement and passion for learning. I also strive to be sure students feel welcomed as they walk into our classroom community each and every day. I knew in 3rd grade that I wanted to become a teacher and I am so happy to be back in a 3rd grade position sharing my love of teaching!

As a proud Fruitport graduate, I'm so excited to be back and working in the community that helped shape who I am today! I hope to make every child I work with feel empowered, loved, understood, and to help them believe that learning is fun! 

I am a first year teacher and I am so excited to join this district! I love creating art and helping my students grow into little artists! My goal is to form a compassionate and creative environment for each of my students. The art room can get messy but I can't wait to see what beautiful creations come out of it! 

What I love most about teaching is getting to know each and every student I come in contact with.  I truly believe that in order for students to learn they need to feel that they are respected, safe, and feel that they are part of strong community within the classroom. 

Everyone has unique skills and talents! I'm passionate about helping students find purpose and joy in school while making meaningful connections throughout their learning! I'm so excited to be a part of the Fruitport community as a special education teacher.

I have been teaching special education at Edgewood Elementary for over 13 years.  During that time, I have had the opportunity to work with students in Kindergarten through 3rd grade.
